Five hundred and thirteen cases of diabetes mellitus who were admitted to Korea University Hospital from January 1967 to December 1976 were studied and following results were obtained.
1) Annual incidences -of diabetes mellitus were increased with increasing years and male and female ratio of patient was 1.8: 1 and highest incidence of diabetes mellitus was in fifth decade of age in both sex.
2. Common symptoms of disease were general weakness (30.6%), thirst (25.2%), polyuria (19.2 %), , headache(12.6%) and sensory disturbancc(10.2 %)
3) Frequent complications of diabetes mellitus v$ ere retinopathy (25.8%), hypertension. (21.0%), pulmonary tuberculosis(19.5%), nephropathy(17.4%), neuropathy(11.7%), infection(11.7%) and atherosclerosis(7. 2%).
4) obese patients(over 10% of ideal body weight) were seen in 45.4% of diabetes mellitus.
5) 1.jypercholesterolemia (over 200mg%) was seen in 55.1 of diabetes mellitus.
